The City of Little Mermaid, Copenhagen (Denmark)
Even though Sweden and Denmark are two countries which set apart with no bonded land area, one can cross the countries by bus. That's the privilege people can receive being economically, socially & culturally equal and having neither racial clashes nor interest in owning others land. We just wanted to travel Copenhagen (Denmark) from Gothenburg (Sweden) and back to Gothenburg on next day.
Sweden and Denmark, the two countries have been artificially joined by means of a long bridge taking the advantage of narrow sea strait between the countries. The surroundings we were observing while passing the bride was awesome, really beautiful. We’re amazed with the scenery of small sailers sailing on calm sea water, gigantic wind mills established by the shore and the beauty of Nordic sea.
We were at Copenhagen 0030h after about four and half travel. Copenhagen is fast moving busy town. We went to the Information desk which established at Railway Station of Copenhagen, to get essential information of the town and for the plan our visit.
What we had to do first is finding the Hotel we reserved before. We had to take another bus to reach that place.
After we get on to the bus we offer our pay to the driver for the tickets, with a question of exact place we have to get off from the bus. He just smiles with us and asked 'are you Indians?' back. We replied him that we are from Sri Lanka. After a friendly conversation we got to know that he's from Pakistan and he understood that it's our first time in Denmark. So he offered us a free trip to our destination on his account. It was very kind of him even to remind us, when the bus came to our hotel place. We were very pleased about his treats being a South Asian so we've gifted him a Sri Lankan Key Tag for his hospitality just to show how much we impressed.
We came out of our Hotel room to have a visit of the city and suburbs after having a fresh shower and keeping our luggage inside the room. After walking around 200m away from the hotel room we were able to find the famous 'Little Mermaid' sculpture. The Zone is consisting with a Catholic Church, Harbors, an ancient palace, and many more exiting statues and monuments.
An old Wind Mill
The sculpture of 'little Mermaid' was nicely made and have been fixed on a large rock at the sea close to land making it possible to reach to the statue via land. We could see a old giant wind mill inside the said old palace. We came back to the room after watching many more things inside that ruined palace.
Next day morning we started our journey back to Gothenburg after having the breakfast from Hotel. We came on same root back to center of Copenhagen and we had another walk through the city having the feel of old pride of a Nordic country, Denmark. Meanwhile, we accidently came across with a old museum of ancient Greek and Roman history. It has so many old creations with Roman and Greek art works and their traditions.
That was our last visit in the Copenhagen and we get on to the bus at 1400h. At 1830h we were able to reach Gothenburg, Sweden.
