The flow of water at the falls is regulated by the upper Kothmale hydroelectric power station located upstream. This can cause fluctuations in the volume of water at the falls, which may increase or decrease depending on the power station's water release schedule. To ensure that visitors can enjoy the beauty of the falls, a controlled amount of water is released at regular intervals. This prevents the falls from drying up completely and provides a steady flow of water for public viewing.
